Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve been you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I have plans to spend the rest of my Sunday in bed reading A Bachelor’s Pledge. This is a blog tour read for next week which I started on Friday but put on hold to finish another book. I’ve been wanting to read more regency romances so I’m glad that I picked this one up. The pace is a little slow right now but I am enjoying it and looking forward to seeing where things go for the MCs 😊

The woman who haunts his dreams
Secret agent Phil Cullen is upset when he discovers that the young woman he rescued from Mrs Newbody’s establishment has absconded from his housekeeper’s care without a word. Thinking he has been deceived, he resolves to forget about her… something easier said than done.

The man she wants to forget
Sophia Turner is horrified when she is duped into entering a notorious house of ill-repute. Then a handsome stranger comes to her aid. Desperate that no one learns of this scandalous episode, Sophia flees to the one friend she knows she can trust. With luck, she will never see her mysterious rescuer again.

But fate has other plans…
Months later, Phil is on the trail of an elusive French agent and Sophia is a respectable lady’s companion when fate again intervenes, taking their lives on a collision course. Traitors, spies, and shameful family secrets – will these bring Sophia and Phil together… or drive them apart?

What are you currently reading?

Oof, I can’t believe another weekend has come and gone already! I’ve been quite lazy this weekend and haven’t been up to much other than reading, watching YouTube videos and doing a bit of baking today! I thought it was time to make a classic: chewy chocolate chip cookies. They ended up fluffier than I wanted but they’re nice and crisp on the edges, so I’m not too mad about it! Also, I’ve loved using the pot holders/oven pads that I got from Owlcrate (in photo)!

The weather has been stupidly hot and humid all week, but luckily it rained twice this weekend although not for very long. I’m so thankful for air-conditioning 😂 This weekend I’ve also basically cut myself off from social media and even WhatsApp and it’s become such a bad habit? Well, I say bad because everyone expects me to be contactable but I honestly can’t be bothered with checking messages and socialising with people. It’s refreshing to not be dependent on social media for entertainment!

Reading & Blogging Recap

I’m glad that I managed to read a banned book during #BannedBooksWeek which means that I can tick off the prompt on the POPSUGAR Reading Challenge! 🥳 I ended up starting Fahrenheit 451 in the afternoon and finishing it just after midnight! I’m not sure how I feel about it — I enjoyed it but I don’t think I really like Bradbury’s writing style? Right now I’m waffling between 3/3.5 stars for it but I’m also unsure how to review it 😂 This week I also decided to join the weekly Let’s Talk Bookish discussions! One of my goals this year has been to do more discussion posts so I’m glad I’m finally doing it. On that note, here’s what I posted this week, ICYMI:

Top 5 Saturday: Intimidating Books
Let’s Talk Bookish: Reviewing Sequels
First Lines Friday: 02 October
September Monthly Wrap Up
#WWWWednesday: 30 September
Book Spotlight + Excerpt: Relentless Habit by Karen Renee
#TopTenTuesday: Favourite 2020 Quotes
#5OnMyTBR: Books About Books
Goodreads Monday: The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones

Listen, if you appreciate a good harmony, you need to listen to this song. It’s one of my long time favourites that I’ve been listening to all weekend because feels 🖤 Its beauty never gets old.

🎶 I sailed a thousand ships in search of you / traveled to distant land
I dove for sunken gold / I took what I could hold /

but you’re still the greatest treasure I’ve held in my hands. 🎶

TRACK HIGHLIGHT

I hope you’ve all had a good weekend and that you have a great week ahead! Take care of yourselves and of each other, friends 🖤

    • Honestly loving the pot holders and the apron as well (although I still haven’t used that one yet I don’t know why) from the Owlcrates! A lot of people have been complaining about the items lately but haha I guess I’m just a basic b coz I love them 😂 Ooh, that title is interesting! I’ve heard of Bernard Cornwell but not sure about his books. Long series’ right?

  1. Chewy chocolate chip cookies! Yummy! And I’m loving those potholders! I’m reading The Truth About Dukes by Grace Burrowes and am enjoying it. A Bachelor’s Pledge sounds interesting too. I’m curious if the pace picks up. Hope you enjoy it!

    • It does pick up a bit but it’s definitely more of a traditional regency romance a la Jane Austen. I really enjoyed the historical aspect and the romance was sweet–oh, all the yearning in days of yore 😂
