Thursday Discussion: Books To Read Before 2019 Ends!

Welcome back to my second week joining the Thursday Discussion posts! Thursday Discussion is a biweekly meme hosted by Ally Writes Things where you write a post based on the prompt for that week. The post can be as long or as short as you want, and you can talk about as much or as little as you want. This week’s topic is books you need to read before the end of 2019 and coincidentally, I’ve just posted on bookstagram about that topic today!

First of all, can you believe that 2019 is already 1.5 months away from being over?! No? Me neither! It’s kind of unbelievable how quickly this year has passed and especially the last month. I still feel like we’ve just started November but now we’re already in the second to last week and I’m here scratching my head wondering how the heck that happened! πŸ˜…

2019 has been an incredible year of reading for me. I’ve hit a new record for how many books I’ve managed to finish before the year ends, and I’m honestly a little impressed with how much I’ve been able to read this year. Reading certainly isn’t a competition but I’m still quite happy with how much I’ve read this year and I’m considering it one of the bigger accomplishments of my year; it also makes me a little excited about what’s in store next year!

So many books, so little time…

That said, there are still quite a number of books that I hope to get through before this year ends–and that’s not even including the ARCs that I have to read too. I still have my very ambitious goal of achieving a 100% rating on NetGalley before 2020 and I honestly don’t know if I’ll be able to do it; but I’m certainly going to try! If there was any doubt in my mind earlier this year about being a mood reader, all those doubts have certainly vanished now πŸ˜‚ But let’s see how it goes…

Now without further ado, here’s my stack. I think it’s a pretty doable stack to get through, although there are some (like The Toll) that I haven’t included in the picture because I don’t have my physical copy yet!

Are any of these books that you want to read before the year ends?

  1. I just made up a list yesterday of the books I need to read before the end of the year to complete my reading challenges. Thank goodness I only have 5 books to go, and I’ve already started on one of them.

    1. Omg, I haven’t even looked at the reading challenges that I’ve been half-following 🀣 I’m so terrible. I think the last time I checked on the Popsugar challenge was like in May? Haha YAY for five books to go! That’s pretty amazing, Ali 😍

    1. Ooh, I am so glad that I picked up Nevernight this year because oh, that book… That series! I still have to finish it but I’m terrified for my feels πŸ˜‚ I hope you enjoy it whenever you get to it — and WTFOH and Well Met too! Have heard great things about both 😍

    1. Hahaha well, at the end of the day it’s always the … intention that counts right? πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ I’m really bad at following lists too but I’m gonna do my damn best to get through at least 90% of this one! Hahaha

  2. Oh, I want to catch up on NetGalley too! And Edelweiss+ though I only have two books from there right now. I don’t think I’ll reach 100% but I would be super happy to get over 90%!! πŸ˜€ Good luck! ❀

    1. I haven’t really ever gotten into Edelweiss+ because it’s just so damn complicated LOL but I’m really gonna try to kick my NG rating’s ass! 🀣 I would honestly just be happy with an 85-90% rating tbh but I think 100% would the mostest πŸ˜‚ Haha good luck to you too, E! 🧑

      1. Edelweiss+ is actually quite easy once you get used to it! To be honest, the most difficult is to set everything up right and then it’s a piece of cake! I prefer the it over NetGalley, actually, because you can save your filters and books you’re interested in but don’t want to request yet πŸ™‚
Yeh, LET’S KICK NG’S ASS!! I’m so close now!! But then I’m always close and then I request EVEN MORE stuff so…

    1. I keep hearing all the amazing things about Well Met. I don’t know why I didn’t pick it up the minute I bought it! But I’m now waiting to get in the right mood for romance — I’m on a bit of a darker murdery streak at the moment haha 🀣

  3. There are always books in the back of my mind that I’d like to read, but I try not to put pressure on myself to do so because I don’t do well with time limits. Needless to say, I make the attempt to avoid those as often as possible. πŸ˜‰ Either way, I hope to read a few Christmas novels this coming month (thankfully, most are SHORT!!) and maybe one more ARC I was sent. Oh! And doesn’t “Well Met” sound fun!? Hope you enjoy all of these!!
