Stuck At Home Book Tag

Hello friends! I was in the mood to do another tag today, but instead of looking to the many (so many) tags that’ve been lingering on my ‘tagged files’, I decided to do the Stuck At Home Book Tag that Sammie @ The Bookwyrm’s Den tagged me in last month. Big thanks for the tag! 🖤If you haven’t already hopped on over to check out her blog then what are you waiting for?! Sammie’s one of my favourite bloggers and her posts never fail to make me laugh because she’s a funny one and her content is always goals (seriously)!

…So now that we’ve got that covered, let’s get straight to it!

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading Against Dark Tides, which is book two of the Beneath Black Sails series. Thanks to my insomnia, I managed to finish book one in the wee hours of this morning, after which I immediately got Against Dark Tides because I needed to know what happens next! This series isn’t perfect–there are things that have annoyed me especially with the repetitiveness with certain characters, but it’s honestly one of those books that’s just so addictive that I can’t stop reading 🤪

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE ‘ CAN’T LEAVE THE HOUSE’ ACTIVITY?

It’d be totally lame to say reading, right? Okay, okay…
Well then I’ll say gaming because aside from reading, I often get caught up for hours and sometimes even days playing a game! Plus, it’s activity that can get me to abandon reality just as easily as reading! 😍

A BOOK YOU’VE BEEN MEANING TO READ FOREVER

*nervously laughing while warily side-eyeing Mount TBR…*

Heh… Just the one, then? Well… The first one that popped into my head because I just read a review for the author’s latest release is The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow. I really need to bump this up my TBR because it feels like it’s been on there forever and I keep saying that I will read it soon! Whoops… 😂

AN INTIMIDATING BOOK ON YOUR TBR

I think I have a lot of intimidating books on my TBR but my copy of The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson recently arrived and while I’m excited to read it, it’s one helluva chunkster! 😂

TOP 3 PRIORITY BOOKS ON MY TBR

It’d be easy for me to list my upcoming tour reads but that’s no fun, so I’m sharing books that I want to read outside of tour “obligations”. I’m so excited to read all of these!

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
Kingdom of the Wicked
Among the Beasts and Briars

RECOMMEND A SHORT BOOK

At 400 pages With the Fire On High by Elizabeth Acevedo isn’t the shortest book but it’s such an enjoyable and fun read that it reads incredibly fast! Literally read it in a few hours because I couldn’t put it down. It was amazing and when I finished it I was so annoyed with myself for putting it off for so long, and I immediately wanted to read it again. ❤️

RECOMMEND A LONG BOOK

Natchez Burning (Natchez Burning #1) by Greg Iles – 791 pages
Growing up in the rural Southern hamlet of Natchez, Mississippi, Penn Cage learned everything he knows about honor and duty from his father, Tom Cage. But now the beloved family doctor is accused of murdering Viola Turner, the beautiful nurse with whom he worked in the early 1960s. A fighter who has always stood for justice, Penn is determined to save his father. The quest for answers sends Penn deep into the past—into the heart of a conspiracy of greed and murder involving the Double Eagles, a vicious KKK crew headed by one of the wealthiest and most powerful men in the state. Now Penn must follow a bloody trail that stretches back forty years, to one undeniable fact: no one—black or white, young or old, brave or not—is ever truly safe.

SOMETHING YOU’D LOVE TO DO WHILE STUCK AT HOME

Oof, there’s a lot but one of the things I’ve been meaning to do for quite a while now is to take an online Graphic Design course on Creative Live. I purchased a few when they went on sale but just haven’t had the time or energy. I should do it now since I’m working from home 🙂

WHAT DO YOU PLAN ON READING NEXT?

I started The Song of the Marked by S.M. Gaith last week but I didn’t manage to continue it, but I think I want to get back to it after I finish my current read and before I continue with my blog tour reads for next week!

    • Kingdom of the Wicked sounds so good! I’m reading Song of the Marked now and I am really loving it so far 😍 It’s up on Kindle Unlimited if you’re subscribed to that, but either way, I hope you get the chance to read it!

    • How good is this cover, right?! I love it too, and I have to admit it’s part of the reason why I picked up the book in the first place. Plus, I love when characters on the cover accurately reflect the characters in the book, and this does a bang up job of it! 😍

    • Omg I know 😂 I’m so bad at reading books I have been saying I’ll read for so long… Just like With the Fire On High! But I managed to finally read that this year so perhaps there’s hope for The Ten Thousand Doors of January too! 😉
