#TopTenTuesday: 2021 Releases I Was Excited to Read But Didn’t Get To

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: 2021 Releases I Was Excited to Read But Didn’t Get To.

This week’s TTT list is probably one of the easiest for me to compile because there are so many books that were released last year that I wanted to read but didn’t get the chance to for one reason or another. The only difficult part was narrowing down which books to list here because there are definitely way more than ten! 😂 These titles have wormed their way to the top of my list and I’m hoping to read them sooner rather than later in 2022 (note to self: remember these words!)!

The Heart Principle
Iron Widow
Beautiful World, Where Are You
She Who Became the Sun
Daughter of the Deep

All the Feels
Act Your Age, Eve Brown
People We Meet on Vacation
The Gilded Ones
A Lesson in Vengeance

Were there lots of books you wanted to read in 2021 but didn’t get the chance to? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? What are some of the books you wish you read last year?

  1. I still need to read She Who Became the Sun too, but that was more of a surprise subscription box book than a really want to read it one. But now I really want to read it, so I have high hopes for doing so in 2022!

  2. Iron Widow and A Lesson in Vengeance are also ones I want to get to this year. Dini.. I think we are going to have TWO buddy reads a month! hahaha!!! It’s crazy how many books on our TBR align! I hope you are able to catch up with many of these this year. I love the Emily Henry book and she has another one coming out in May!

    • HAHA I’m totally okay with all the buddy reads, Leslie! It really gives me motivation to pick up the books that would otherwise probably linger on my TBR for even longer??? Let me know if you wanna do it! Haha, but if not two a month we can always spread it out more across the year 😂 And OMG I know! I’m gonna have so many Emily Henry books to catch up on at this rate! Fingers crossed I can get to her first two before the next one comes out in May!

      • I am so on!!! I think it will help both of us to back off ARC’s a little and read more of our backlist if we commit to two a month or whatever. I definitely love how many of my backlist I’ve gotten to with you! ❤

  3. You cracked me up. I put some rules in place and didn’t really comb my Goodreads TBR. Made me feel like a reading queen. You and me both meant to read the Hoang book. Every time I was going to read it, I thought about how sad I heard the story is, and I just couldn’t do it.

    • Haha, I’m so good at saying “these books are priority on the TBR” and then somehow still never get around to reading them 🙈 Hopefully, 2022 will be the year that changes?! Lol. And yeah, I’m kinda nervous about Hoang’s book only cos a lot of people have commented how sad and different it is to the rest of the series… Definitely have to be in the right mood for it but I hope we both love it!

  4. Oh you have some GREAT books on your list, some of my faves from last year. I loved The Heart Principle, but it’s definitely not your average romance – it’s very heavy, dives into some really quite sad stuff. I also loved The People We Meet On Vacation and She Who Became the Sun – both of those are fantastic and so is Act Your Age, Eve Brown. I also quite liked The Gilded Ones. I didn’t enjoy Beautiful World, Where Are You? but I’m convinced that I’m just not a Sally Rooney person.

    • I heard that The Heart Principle is more women’s fic than romance and I’m glad for the heads up otherwise I probs would’ve expected something totally different and been bummed lol Sally Rooney is definitely not for everyone—I didn’t enjoy her debut but I loved Normal People so I guess we’ll just see how it goes with this one. Kinda worried I won’t like it but keen to give it a try 😃

  5. I had hoped to read The Iron Widow this past year too, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. Perhaps this year. I hope you like The Gilded Ones when you read it. I really liked that one.

  6. I’m interested in seeing Riordan do something different with Daughter of the Deep, but I’ve not gotten around to it yet either. I just started She Who Became the Sun today though, and it’s good so far!

  7. I think we all could list more than just the ten books this week. Good thing they had to be published last year. LOL I have Sally Rooney’s “Normal People” on my TBR pile.

Thanks for visiting my TTT this week.

  8. So very happy to see we have a few in common again! 😉 I hope you get to People We Meet on Vacation. I would love to hear your thoughts! Fingers crossed we can both get to The Heart Principle and Beautiful World!
