#WWWWednesday: 22 September 2021

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week, I’ve managed to finish six books! The majority were still romances and I binged a dark romance trilogy early on in the week, but I’ve also enjoyed a great collection of middle grade short stories!

White Monarch Series (#1-3) by Jessica Hawkins ★★★★☆
I haven’t read a cartel romance before but it was definitely dark and whole lot of sizzling build up of physical chemistry to a steamy combustion in the last book! Hawkins doesn’t shy away from the darker and dirtier side of cartel business from drugs, arms, and human trafficking and the book was surprisingly as heavy on cartel politics and revenge as it was on the romance. I loved Cristiano and Natalia and thought they were such a great couple and theirs was an entertaining story! Full series RTC.

The Duke of Diamonds (A Lady to Suit #1) by Emily Windsor ★★★½
I really liked Windsor’s writing style. The language fit the period, it’s full of wit and warmth and I found myself laughing-out-loud a lot as I read! Although their initial meeting was based on lies, I loved how Casper and Eveline came alive around each other especially over whilst discussing the art which they are so passionate about. It was a slow-burn but well worth the wait! RTC.

The Rake of Hearts (A Lady to Suit #2) by Emily Windsor ★★★★½
I loved Ernest and Hebe’s romance! If Ernest looked at me over the top of his glasses across the dining table, I’d probably swoon into my pudding too! 😂 I loved to see them shed the personalities that they put up in front of the ton the more time they spent in the countryside getting to know each other. This was a sweet and delightfully steamy regency romance! RTC.

The Cursed Carnival and Other Calamities by Rick Riordan ★★★★☆
These stories were rich in diverse cultural representation and gave readers a fun glimpse into many new worlds full of magical adventures and interesting mythologies. I wasn’t familiar with all but one of the characters/stories but I was still able to enjoy the stories. This will give you a good taste of Rick Riordan Presents stories and will leave you wanting more. Check out my full review!

I’m not sure yet but I’ll be reading Warping Minds & Other Misdemeanors or Kiss and Don’t Tell as a palate cleanser today before proceeding with my next blog tour read! One is relatively short compared to the other but I think they’ll both be quick and easy reads.

I’ve made zero progress with She Who Became the Sun and Honor’s Revenge. I feel like at this point I need to start both from the beginning cos what is my memory? Lol

Really not quite sure what I’ll be feeling next but I know I have more ARCs to get through and blog tours to read for as September wraps up and October kicks off!

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading! 😍

    • Ah, I didn’t end up reading it! I went for Lucky Number Eleven by Adriana Locke instead (although funnily enough I thought I was reading Quinn’s book and was wondering the whole time why it was so different to her usual style 😂)! Silly me… Will definitely get to it soon though!

    • Sorry for the late reply, Adira! Did you end up finishing SWBTS? I still haven’t picked it up again yet… But I will… Soon… I think 🙈 I hope you’ve been enjoying your reads and have a great week!
