We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!
I’m spending the rest of my Sunday reading the ARC for Under the Whispering Door. I’m buddy reading this with Leslie and I’m so excited to dive in! I’ve ticked quite a few books off my TBR this year thanks to these buddy reads and I’ve been enjoying them so much, and I can’t wait to see what we both think of this book. Expectations are quite high but we do feel like we’re probably gonna love it!
When a reaper comes to collect Wallace Price from his own funeral, Wallace suspects he really might be dead.
Instead of leading him directly to the afterlife, the reaper takes him to a small village. On the outskirts, off the path through the woods, tucked between mountains, is a particular tea shop, run by a man named Hugo. Hugo is the tea shop’s owner to locals and the ferryman to souls who need to cross over.
But Wallace isn’t ready to abandon the life he barely lived. With Hugo’s help he finally starts to learn about all the things he missed in life.
When the Manager, a curious and powerful being, arrives at the tea shop and gives Wallace one week to cross over, Wallace sets about living a lifetime in seven days.
By turns heartwarming and heartbreaking, this absorbing tale of grief and hope is told with TJ Klune’s signature warmth, humor, and extraordinary empathy.

I can’t believe another week is already over! It was pretty quiet on the work front last week as many of my colleagues in the Netherlands are on summer holiday right now. During one of those slow days, I decided to buy a few Udemy courses (at massive sale prices!) for web development and mastering the Adobe CC Suite. I’ve taught myself a lot of what I know about these topics so it’d be nice to supplement those basics with some advanced knowledge and hopefully I don’t struggle but I’m looking forward to learning 🙂
Aside from that, I also bought my first drill diamond painting kit and started it on Friday. Of course, the first design that I got is book related!😉 I think it’s quite ambitious for my first time but it’s quite relaxing and I’m enjoying it a lot! I take great satisfaction from perfectly placing the drills on the corresponding number/colour squares! I think this is going to be the start of a new hobby although I’m already wondering just what I’ll do with all the ‘paintings’ if I really get into this! 😂 Anyone out there do this and what do you do with your paintings if you do loads?
I also started the HBO mini-series Chernobyl last night and finished it this morning and I’m so glad I watched it with my cousin because I don’t think I could’ve watched it alone. It’s so haunting and devastating and it captured the foreboding and helpless feelings so incredibly well. OML, I knew I wasn’t gonna be ready for the emotional toll watching it would have on me but I really did not expect it to hit me as hard as it did. I think calling what happened at Chernobyl a tragedy is minimising it and I was infuriated, appalled, and aghast listening to the lies and seeing the life-shattering impact on the workers, the nearby towns, and the surrounding environment. The things they had to do and what they experienced… It’s harrowing to say the least. It’s one helluva tough watch but so freaking worth it if you’re interested in that kind of history. I get why the show has top ratings!
I feel like I haven’t read all that much this past week as I took a bit of time to read one particular ARC. That said, I’ve mostly been reading ARCs which I’m quite proud of! As a mood reader I tend to struggle with this a lot but I’ve been making steady progress this month and hopefully, that’ll continue even after it’s over! 😂 My favourite read so far this week is Fireborn: Twelve and the Frozen Forest by Aisling Fowler. My spot on the blog tour is next week so keep an eye out for my review then!
