Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last Wednesday I’ve finished three books. Two of the books were re-reads that I did following along with the audiobooks and I’m so glad that I did that!

Illuminae & Gemina (The Illuminae Files #1 and #2) by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff ★★★★★
These were my two re-reads and I absolutely LOVED them. I rated them both 4-stars the first time I read them (although I’m not sure why) but after reading along with the audiobook, I’ve bumped up both ratings to 5-stars. This series is *chefs kiss*. Maybe Gemina isn’t all that different in plot compared to Illuminae but did I care? Absofreakinglutely NOT! They were such fun reads and I loved the couples and the side characters. Seriously, if you love full cast audios and want something fun to read, definitely check these out! 😍 10/10 would recommend!

The Locker Room (The Brentwood Boys #1) by Meghan Quinn ★★★½
Legit sad that I didn’t love this one more especially when it started out strong for me. Knox was such a great hero and might be one of my new sports hero faves, and while Emory started off really fun and relatable, she became increasingly irritating as the story went on. And then that time-jump at the 80% mark happened and… NOPE. Nuppity nope. Just why? Super sad panda times. 🐼 Check out my review!

I’ve still got my buddy read with Sammie going for Aurora Rising. I paused this one cos I got way ahead compared to Sammie, but I think I’ll pick it up some time during the day this week because the next part definitely creeped out the first time I read it (keep in mind I’m the Ultimate Chicken™️). I also started my re-read of Obsidio this weekend but after getting through over 1,200 pages with the first two books over the weekend, my brain kinda pooped out on me and demanded a break! 😂 Will pick it up again soon! I’m also finishing up Aether Ones for a blog tour tomorrow and I know I’m cutting it hella close but I’ve been reading this book since Sunday… It’s… I don’t know. I don’t hate it but I’m also STILL VERY CONFUSED and I keep having to re-read chunks for things to “make sense” and yeah… That’s the situation 🙈

I need to get started on March blog tour reads but I’m also really keen to read Amelia Unabridged. I have a feeling it’s going to be one helluva emotional ride based on reviews I’ve skimmed but I think it’s my mood right now! 😂

  2. So bummed that The Locker Room went south for you. I have it downloaded on my kindle and I’ve been looking forward to picking it up. I’m also hoping to get my hands on Mr. Right Across the Street soon. Hope you enjoy your upcoming reads, Dini!

    • Ugh, me too, Ali! I was really enjoying it for the most part until it bummed me out 😅 I hope you enjoy it though and can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it! I’m reading Mr Right Across the Street right now and it’s good so far! Very cute and sweet. Hope you enjoy all your reads as well!

  4. I really want to check out more of Jay Kristoff’s work – sounds like the Illuminae Files need to be on that list after your thoughts here. I’m currently reading Watch Her Fall by Erin Kelly and really enjoying it!

    • Yes, it most definitely is! That was my first taste of Kristoff/Kaufman and they’re just the ultimate storytelling duo! So much sass, action and great banter between the characters and I’d definitely recommend it. Especially if you like mixed media book formats! I hope you’re enjoying your current read! ☺️

    • Still haven’t finished Obsidio but I just finished my re-read of Aurora Rising and loved it so much! 🥰 I didn’t end up getting to Amelia yet but I’ve heard really good things about that book. I have no doubt it’s gonna make me weepy! Hope you had a great week as well, Leslie! ❤️

  6. I can’t wait to see what you think of Amelia Unabridged. I’ve heard a lot of great things about it. I read Mr. Right Across the Street recently – it’s a cute and light read. I had just finished a pretty heavy fantasy, so it was just the kind of book I needed at the time! Hope you enjoy all of your reads!!

  7. I still haven’t finished Obisidio. I remember that I found the Asha? and the other dude not as interesting as the other couples in Illuminae and Gemina. Have you read the prequel “Memento”? That one really fucked me up. Gotta love Aiden.

    • Haha, I did read Memento and my love-hate flame for AIDEN burned big and bright all over again 😂 Ugh, that AI really gets to me! I loved it though! Also, totally agree that I didn’t feel half as invested in Asha and … What’s his name (I can’t remember, ah!) compared to the other two couples. I think the audiobook is helping me like it a bit better though, but still pales in comparison!
