Hello friends! I hope everyone is doing well and has had a good if not great week so far. I for one am very much looking forward to the weekend so I don’t have to think about work anymore (hopefully). But I digress because I’ve decided to do a quick and fun book tag that doesn’t require me to think too hard about my answers because I’m definitely that over-thinker π Lucky for me, Alexis @ The Reading Addict tagged me to do the Currently Reading Book Tag and it’s just the right kind of tag I was looking to do. If you haven’t already, go check out Alexis’ blog for some great reviews and bookish content!
How many books do you usually read at once?
I used to be really good at juggling reading multiple books at once but lately I’ve been reading one book at a time. I tend to start multiple books (say 2-3) but put the others aside when one of them reels me in!

how do you decide when to switch between multiple reads?
When I used to read multiple books it would basically depend on my mood. I didn’t really have a system of reading a certain amount of pages a day, I just read until my mood dictated otherwise (oh the joys of being a mood reader π€£). Sometimes when I step out of my comfort zone and end up reading a horror or something creepy, I’ll switch my reads at night or when I get too scared! LOL
do you ever switch bookmarks partway through a book?
I don’t! I actually rarely use the many many bookmarks that I have because I tend to lose them if they’re not attached to my book! I honestly don’t know how I so easily lose bookmarks… It’s a talent. …But I guess if using different receipts/tissues/papers or whatever else I can get my hands on to use as a bookmark counts, then I guess I do switch bookmarks quite a lot? π
what time of day do you read the most?
I tend to read the most at night but sometimes I’ll take cheeky breaks from work and spend 30(ish) minutes reading during the day! I really try my best to not do this as often while WFH π¬

how long do you typically read in one session?
This is a good question! I don’t actually think about it when I’m reading “for the night” unlike when I read during work breaks. At nights I guess it’s usually a couple of hours depending on what time I get into bed but it’s one hour at the very least!

do you read hardcovers with the dust jacket off?
Always! I don’t know how people read hard covers with dust jackets on because I’m always worried I’ll ruin the jackets as they’re always slipping up and down the book. I especially hate when the bottoms get scrunched up because they’ve slipped past the edge of the book π€¦π»ββοΈ
what position do you mainly use to read?

I don’t know why but I find this such a funnily worded question! I’m such a weirdo. But I mostly read lying down or half-way to lying down just because my arms get tired. But now that I think about it I do move around a lot while reading!
do you take your current read with you everywhere you go?
I go everywhere with a book. Even if it’s just to the supermarket and I will most likely not be able to read and don’t need to bring a book, I will bring my Kindle at the very least. Actually, the only time I don’t bring my “current read” with me is when I’m reading a big hardcover or tome… Like that time I was reading Priory of the Orange Tree… That was a chunkster! π
how often do you update your goodreads reading progress?

I try to update my progress as soon as I start a book but I tend to forget to update what I’m “currently reading” and just mark it when I finish and I’m writing my review for the book. I used to be much more diligent at updating this but I’ve been getting quite lazy (and forgetful!) lately π¬

And that’s a wrap on the currently reading book tag! I’ve tagged a few people to do this but please don’t feel pressured to if you don’t feel like it or don’t do tags. Also, feel free to do this even if I haven’t tagged you–I’d love to see your answers! π
i tag:
Leah | Becky | Ali | Christopher | Emer | YOU!

Oooh thanks for the tag – I like this one! And itβs always funny to me how similar our answers are for every tag about preferences! (Except horror because Iβm a big wuss)

Yep, horror is pretty much a no-go zone for me too. Well, except for when I’m feeling particularly masochistic π I’m so weird haha love to see our similarities as well! π

I remove the dust jacket when reading a hardcover too! One time I didn’t and I couldn’t even focus on the story lol. This is such a great tag! π

Haha same here! I will just keep fiddling with it and I’d be focusing on placing the book down very gently or keeping it in a particular position that doesn’t damage it instead of focusing on the story π

Nice tag!
I used to read 10-15 books at a time, and constantly switching between them, but this year I am sticking to reading 2 or 3 together (might be currently reading more but these would be dormant)

Holy wow, 10-15 books at a time is amazing! How?! Haha I know a lot of people who do juggle reading 5+ books sometimes but 10+ is next level skill π€©

I used to rotate the books. So read 10% of one, than switch to the next. At the moment I just let my mood decide which book to read π

As a mood reader I definitely get letting moods dictate π

Yep. I have to pull that dust jacket off first thing, too. π

I love reading for a couple hours at night β€ haha the only hardcovers I read are library books so I kind of have to read them with the dust jacket since it's plastic wrapped and taped to the book lol

Reading for a few hours in bed at night is the perfect way to end the day imo. At least, it’s my fave way and my day feels incomplete if I don’t end up reading π Oh fair, I think if it was a plastic wrapped hardcover I would also read it with the dust jacket on but when they’re loose they just mess me up haha

Great post, love your answers to the questions!! As a kid I always had 3-4 or sometimes 5 books on the go – now I am older I’ll read 2-3 at once but end up focusing more on the one that’s drawn me in like you π I also take a book EVERYWHERE – just in case π. Love this post! π

I also go everywhere with a book, hahaha. I like coats with big pockets for this reason. π

This gif made me want to rewatch The Big Bang Theory! I will strongly suggest it to my bf to watch tonight π
I also usually have a couple of books on the go, but tend to focus more on one at a time. But I’ve been trying to NOT start multiple books at ones, because then I end up with a couple of books on my GR currently reading shelf for months and it really bugs me π
