So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: books with colours in the title.
I thought this prompt would be super easy but it turns out I was very wrong 😅 I wrote it while staring at the books on my shelf and I couldn’t see one read title that had a colour in it, and only one book title immediately came to mind for the prompt. Even digging deeper into my Goodreads read list didn’t give me as many results as I’d hoped to find! So to make it easier for myself, I’m going to split this list into read and to be read books with colours in the title because it turns out I’ve got a lot more on my ‘to-be-read’ list (*surprise surprise*) 😂
READ
Words in Deep Blue – absolutely crushed my feels & one of my 2020 faves so far!
Spinning Silver – loved Novik’s magical writing and this unique retelling
Scarlet – the second book in one of my all favourite YA SFF fairytale retellings 😍
The Golden Compass – a dark and fantastical adventure full of magic and wonder that i really enjoyed!
Red Queen – this first book was a total winner for me, but sadly the sequels were not!
TO-BE-READ
Jade City – definitely finishing it this year!
Gods of Jade and Shadow – hoping to read it this year coz i’ve only heard amazing things!
The Black Kids – just started this last night. it’s giving me a whole mix of feels…
The City of Brass – shame on me that this is still on my TBR pile! i need to get on it asap!
The Green Mile – the movie wrecked me but have always wanted to read the book too!
What are some of your favourite reads that have colours in the title? Any of these your favourites or also on your TBR?
Great list, Dini! I hope you enjoy Gods of Jade and Shadow and City of Brass–Jade City is one I really want to get to, too. I adore Spinning Silver and I love the cover of Words in Deep Blue!

Yay! We have three of the same, haha. Great list Dini. Most of these I haven’t read.

Great picks, Dini! I almost used Words in Deep Blue as well but decided against it because (don’t throw anything) I didn’t like it. *ducks and runs* I’m totally in the minority but I didn’t care for that one at all.

Hahaha oh no! I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t like it 😢 But that’s okay, we can’t all like the same books all the time! I can definitely see why some people wouldn’t like it though–for me some of the characters made it frustrating at times, but I found myself so emotionally connected by the end. I was all up in the feels 😝

Great selection even if it was a struggle!
I keep on looking at Jade War, so good luck with Jade City – it does sound like an interesting series.

Thank you! I started reading it when I was in a bit of a slump so I put it aside but from what I’ve seen so far it’s really well written and the world building is amazing. I’m looking forward to finishing it 🙂

I have The Green Mile on my TTT as well. I themed mine around horror books. I am so excited that The Black Kids comes out today!!!

I like how you split this list up! The Golden Compass is such a great pick for this theme, I totally forgot about that one 🙂

Loved Scarlet and all of The Lunar Chronicles! I’m really wanting to do a reread soon. And I’m anxious to pick up The Black Kids. I can’t wait to hear what you think of it. ❤

The Lunar Chronicles is SO good! I really want to get my hands on the physical copies (with the new covers)! I’m putting The Black Kids on hold a bit because I just realised that I’m on two blog tours this weekend that I totally forgot about. That’s what I get for avoiding my email for… too long 🤦🏻♀️ I’ve heard good things about it though. Another important read with everything going on!

Ha! I’m always scared to check my email when I let it go for a few days, too! But I do enjoy those email-free days. 🤣

haha it definitely feels great to be caught up again and i’m enjoying seeing zero new emails in the inbox 😂

Heh, that was precisely my reaction to this week’s prompt, too.
The Green Mile was very thought provoking. Hope you like it.
Thanks for stopping by my post earlier!

Thanks Lydia 🙂 I remember loving the movie (when I watched it eons ago lol) although it completely emotionally wrecked me! Looking forward to the book and reading more King!

I think it’s fine to include books you haven’t read. 🙂 The Golden Compass is an excellent pick, it didn’t even occur to me to include it, even if I love the books.

I usually try to do my TTTs with favourite reads but it was a lot harder to do that for this list (surprisingly) although as I was looking at other peoples’ lists I realised I had a lot more on my read list that I completely forgot! I still haven’t read the rest of the His Dark Materials series but I’m looking forward to it 🙂

Great list! I felt the same way about Red Queen. Loved it but the rest of the series fell flat.

Red Queen was so promising! I didn’t even end up finishing the series. I think I read the second book and thought ‘hmm’ and then I tried starting the third and thought ‘meh’? I can’t even remember anymore 😂

I did the same. I sometimes think I should give it another shot when I hear others raving about it, but it just didn’t click for me after the first book.

Yeah, I thought about doing the same but then I thought nah, too many other books that are unread sitting on my TBR 😂 Different strokes and all that, right?! Hehe

A lot of the books on your read list are on my TBR, which explains why I had so much trouble actually writing up a “read” list!

haha City of Brass is still on my TBR pile as well so we can be shameful together! I completely forgot about Gods of Jade and Shadow even though I’ve been wanting to read it for what feels like YEARS

The City of Brass is great. I also enjoyed Scarlet but I wasn’t a fan of Red Queen, I couldn’t get through the sequels either, I only read the first two books.

Awesome! You’ll probably end up reading Jade City before me so keen to see what you think of it! I started it when I was in a bit of a slump at the start of the pandemic so I put it down. It’s very detailed but well written from what I can tell so far 🙂 Happy reading!

Welllll I did get it as an ebook and I’m terrible at keeping up with my ebooks… even more so than my physical books! It’s the “out of sight, out of mind” aspect. So, who knows when I’ll actually get to it! haha.

I haven’t read any of these but I’ve been interested in Words in Deep Blue, and I’m glad to see a ringing endorsement from you.
