Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve been you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ve spent a good chunk of my Sunday in bed with my eARC for Always Only You (Bergman Brothers #2) by Chloe Liese. After reading the first book in the series I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one and I’m so lucky to have received an advanced copy from Chloe. I’m really enjoying it and I’m trying to pace myself but after starting it this morning I’m already at 60%, so I’ll easily be finishing it this evening! I am loving the Bergman brothers and their heroines so much–please give me more! 😍

Ren
The moment I met her, I knew Frankie Zeferino was someone worth waiting for. Deadpan delivery, secret heart of gold, and a rare one-dimpled smile that makes my knees weak, Frankie has been forbidden since the day she and I became coworkers, meaning waiting has been the name of my game—besides, hockey, that is. I’m a player on the team, she’s on staff, and as long as we work together, dating is off-limits. But patience has always been my virtue. Frankie won’t be here forever—she’s headed for bigger, better things. I just hope that when she leaves the team and I tell her how I feel, she won’t want to leave me behind, too.

Frankie
I’ve had a problem at work since the day Ren Bergman joined the team: a six foot three hunk of happy with a sunshine smile. I’m a grumbly grump and his ridiculously good nature drives me nuts, but even I can’t entirely ignore that hot tamale of a ginger with icy eyes, the perfect playoff beard, and a body built for sin that he’s annoyingly modest about. Before I got wise, I would have tripped over myself to get a guy like Ren, but with my diagnosis, I’ve learned what I am to most people in my life—a problem, not a person. Now, opening my heart to anyone, no matter how sweet, is the last thing I’m prepared to do.

Always Only You is an opposites-attract, forbidden love sports romance about a nerdy, late-blooming hockey star, and his tough cookie coworker who keeps both her soft side and her autism diagnosis* to herself. Complete with a meddling secretary, tantric yoga torture, and a scorching slow burn, this standalone is the second in a series of novels about a Swedish-American family of five brothers, two sisters, and their wild adventures as they each find happily ever after.

*This is an #OwnVoices story for its portrayal of autism by an autistic author.

What are you currently reading?

Ah, it feels good to be writing my first Sunday wrap up post in a very long time, and honestly, it just feels good to be blogging again too! I’m feeling so drained of energy these days so I’m still working up to posting more regularly but most importantly blog hopping as well! I’ve missed everyone so much and I’m glad to be back from that very unplanned hiatus! In my last Sunday post I had just moved and was still working on organising my shelves but I’ve now more or less finished them and the set up is looking more to my liking!

I still want to properly set up my reading “corner” by making more room behind my blue chair and setting up a lamp and hanging up a few bookish things (like my moony puzzle from Owlcrate which I’m going to frame) and I want to buy fairy lights to hang up around my shelf. Do any of you have reading nooks? What else could I add to my nook to enhance the comfy/bookish aesthetic?

Reading & Blogging Recap

Despite being completely MIA in July, I’ve actually been reading a decent amount. I’m still not reading as much as earlier in the year but it’s still much better compared to the start of the pandemic when I was reading 2 or 3 books at most. As has become usual, most of the books I’ve read have been for blog tours but I’m glad that they’re at least keeping me reading; plus, the only posts I’ve made this month have been the reviews for the blog tours I took part in, so I guess there’s that too!

TRACK HIGHLIGHT

I’ve been thrilled with the release of Taylor Swift’s latest album: folkore. I love the songs and their more chilled out/indie vibes. One of my favourite tracks is the one with Justin Vernon and I ain’t gonna lie–I’ve been listening to it on repeat a lot 💜 Have you listened to the album or any of the songs? What track(s) do you love?

🎶 You’re not my homeland anymore so what am I defending now? You were my town, now I’m in exile seeing you out. I think I’ve seen this film before. 🎶

I hope everyone is managing to stay healthy and safe, and are doing well! Let me know how you’ve been in the comments below.
Take care of yourselves and of each other, friends 🖤

  3. Yay for the return of weekly recaps! I love reading these posts and seeing what you’ve been up to (not creepy at all) 😀

Everyone has been talking about the new Taylor Swift album, and I’ve been silently sitting here and listening to the new Little Mix song on repeat instead. I’m just not a big fan of Taylor’s music 🤷‍♀️

  4. Welcome back!! I LOVE your reading nook! I think it’s perfect. And it took me about 3 listens to fall in love with Folklore, but now I’m listening to it on repeat. 😉 I can’t decide which is my favorite. #1? Cardigan? My Tears Ricochet?? I love Exile, too, but it’s so different from Bon Iver’s usual stuff. I’m having to get used to it. Ha!

    • Thanks Dedra! It does feel good to be back ❤ I actually have only listened to the full album once but I'm obsessed and over playing quite a few of the tracks. Exile is definitely different from Justin's usual stuff but there's this one line in the song that hits me in all the feels every time I listen to it 😂 I love the 1, cardigan, and my tears ricochet so much too! haha such a good album ❤
