Goodreads Monday – Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw

Welcome back to Goodreads Monday! This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners and it invites you to pick a book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it. Easy enough, right? Feel free to join in if you want to! I’ll be using a random number generator to pick my books from my insanely long GR Want-to-read list.

Wooh, it’s been a hot minute since I did one of these but I’m glad to be back with it!
This week’s featured book is Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw. This is a standalone (I think) Young Adult Fantasy that was released towards the end of last year and it currently has a 3.82 rating on Goodreads!

Be careful of the dark, dark wood…
Especially the woods surrounding the town of Fir Haven. Some say these woods are magical. Haunted, even.

Rumored to be a witch, only Nora Walker knows the truth. She and the Walker women before her have always shared a special connection with the woods. And it’s this special connection that leads Nora to Oliver Huntsman—the same boy who disappeared from the Camp for Wayward Boys weeks ago—and in the middle of the worst snowstorm in years. He should be dead, but here he is alive, and left in the woods with no memory of the time he’d been missing.

But Nora can feel an uneasy shift in the woods at Oliver’s presence. And it’s not too long after that Nora realizes she has no choice but to unearth the truth behind how the boy she has come to care so deeply about survived his time in the forest, and what led him there in the first place. What Nora doesn’t know, though, is that Oliver has secrets of his own—secrets he’ll do anything to keep buried, because as it turns out, he wasn’t the only one to have gone missing on that fateful night all those weeks ago.

For as long as there have been fairy tales, we have been warned to fear what lies within the dark, dark woods and in Winterwood, New York Times bestselling author Shea Ernshaw, shows us why.

Why do I want to read it?

I’ve never read anything by this author and honestly, this sounds like something I wouldn’t normally read because it sounds pretty spooky (and I’m a total chicken) but… We’re all for stepping out of that comfort zone on occasion! That said, it’s really on my TBR (mostly) because it came in my Owlcrate box and honestly, this ‘deluxe edition first print’ is *chefs kiss*. It is so gorgeous and it gives me all those cold, wintery, creepy forest vibes that fit perfectly with the title! I have heard a few mixed reviews about it but mostly positive, so I’m looking forward to picking it up at some point… some time… 😂

Have you read Winterwood or is it on your TBR?

  1. Hated her other novel The Wicked Deep (super dodgy consent issues that had me ranting and raving with my book group friends as it was a group read..)…. so I hope this one is a vast improvement! Good luck with it Dini ☺️☺️💙💛🧡💚❤️
