O.W.L.s Magical Readathon: Announcement and Possibility Pile!

I know it’s April so I’m already late to the party (surprise)… But after quite a bit of debating I’ve finally decided to join the O.W.L.s Magical Readathon this year! I’ve been keen on joining since I first heard about it last year and I’m seriously impressed by the amount of amazing work that has gone into making this readathon a possibility. Exhibit A are the career pages in the booklet that G made–the artwork is stunning! Here’s the announcement video from G’s channel about the readathon in case you’re interested and want to join in too (it’s never too late right?)!

Anyway, before I get off track… I was waffling on what career to choose for the readathon and I was stuck between Culinary Sorcerer (I mean how much fun does that sound?!) and Trader of Magical Tomes (which is just a big duh) but thanks to a Twitter poll, I’m going for: Trader of Magical Tomes! Very exciting times friends…

There are four O.W.L.s I have to complete in order to achieve this: Ancient Runes, Charms, History of Magic and Transfiguration.

Ancient Runes:

Heart rune – a heart on the cover or in the title

Call It What You Want by Brigid Kemmerer or A Heart So Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer

Charms:

lumos maxima – white cover

One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus or Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen M. McManus

history of magic:

Witch hunt – books featuring witches/wizards

The Familiars by Stacey Halls or Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw

Transfiguration:

Animagus lecture – book/series that features shape shifting

I struggled a bit with this one… I don’t know that I already have books with shape shifting, aside from the ones mentioned below… Do you have any suggestions maybe?
Gumiho: Wicked Fox by Kat Cho or Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa

I don’t know yet if I want to do any of the extra courses that we can take but I guess we’ll come to that when I complete the O.W.L.s and if I have the time/energy! I’m feeling pretty optimistic that I can make it through the O.W.L.s successfully seeing as I only have four prompts to complete… Fingers crossed I haven’t just jinxed myself 😂 I’m really excited to take part in such a huge readathon though! Slytherin represent! 🐍

Are you also joining in the magical readathon? If you are, what career did you choose and what books will you be reading? Link me up to your post below!

  3. G puts so much work and love into this, she makes this readathon truly magical! It’s my first year participating and I am loving it! You have an amazing possibility pile, I want to read most of these books and the others are on my radar. I almost chose Call It What You Want by Brigid Kemmerer for Ancient Runes but I couldn’t order it on time (and I really want a physical copy of this book) so I had to pick another one. I hope you read it! 😃
