It’s the first Goodreads Monday of 2020, friends! This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners and it invites you to pick a book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it. Easy enough, right? Feel free to join in if you want to! I’ll be using a random number generator to pick my books from my insanely long GR Want-to-read list.
This week’s book is NOS4A2 by Joe Hill. It’s easy to forget this book has been around for a few years considering it got a lot of hype last year and that’s how I discovered it in the first place. This horror/thriller has a 4.07 star average with 92.6k+ ratings and 11.1k+ reviews, which is pretty great!

Victoria McQueen has a secret gift for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. On her Raleigh Tuff Burner bike, she makes her way to a rickety covered bridge that, within moments, takes her wherever she needs to go, whether it’s across Massachusetts or across the country.
Charles Talent Manx has a way with children. He likes to take them for rides in his 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith with the NOS4A2 vanity plate. With his old car, he can slip right out of the everyday world, and onto the hidden roads that transport them to an astonishing – and terrifying – playground of amusements he calls “Christmasland.”
Then, one day, Vic goes looking for trouble—and finds Manx. That was a lifetime ago. Now Vic, the only kid to ever escape Manx’s unmitigated evil, is all grown up and desperate to forget. But Charlie Manx never stopped thinking about Victoria McQueen. He’s on the road again and he’s picked up a new passenger: Vic’s own son.
Why do I want to read it?
You know I’m not much for horror or supernatural thrillers but the hype really got to me, friends. That said, I think this might be more of the horror that I can deal with (humans, not ghosts). I mean, I’m sure it will freak me out but I’m hoping I won’t lose that much sleep over it? Also, I love this title and it took me a while to get it but when I did it was like lightbulb! (*insert classic Gru from Despicable Me gif*) LOL I’ve heard from other book friends who’ve admitted to also being Ultimate Chickens™️ that this isn’t as bad as they expected and well, they survived so I definitely can too! I’m looking forward to giving Joe Hill a try. I’ve heard amazing things about his Heart Shaped Box but I think I’ll slowly progress to that one ✌🏽I’m actually tempted to wait until Christmas to read this one as it’d be more fitting?
Have you read NOS4A2 or is it on your TBR?

This is in my TBR. Not read yet

I’ll be curious to hear what you say about it. It sounds like it might be a bit too much horror for me. I’m scared!!

I know, I’m kinda scared too but I’m also kind of excited to try it and see if it’s as scary as it seems. I’m such a masochist huh? 🤣 Haha

This book has been on my radar as well! I’m not a big horror reader, so I’m kinda scared too… lol. I might try reading Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky first and see how I like the genre 😀

I kinda feel like Imaginary Friend will be scarier than NOS4A2 so I think I might stick to this one 🤣Haha if you do read Imaginary Friend I’ll look forward to your review 😀

I want to check this one out! It took me entirely too long to realize what that licence plate meant! I kept reading the title as the numbers and letters lol.

Hahaha EXACTLY THE SAME! I was reading the letters/numbers until one day I looked at it again and it just clicked in my head and I was like OMG ALL THIS TIME 🤣 Glad I’m not the only one who did this haha

I think one of my friends said the name of it and I was like ‘what book is that?’ and then showed me and it was like a lightbulb suddenly went off LOL>

I have all of Joe Hill’s books on my TBR. They all sound amazing but I haven’t tried any of them yet. I’m always so behind, lol.

Oh wow! Does he have as many books as his dad? Lol I’m definitely curious especially about Heart Shaped Box but I don’t know if I can handle it 🤣
