My guilt has kicked in and told me that I can’t keep avoiding another culling of my ridiculous TBR forever, so here I am. Back again with a list of books from my Goodreads TBR that is now a whopping 1,072 books (don’t judge me, I added more books to my TBR since last week)! I thought I’d make it clear again that just because it’s on my Goodreads TBR doesn’t actually mean I own copies of the book (that’d be way ridiculous even for me)! Let’s see what we can get rid of today, eh?
Down the TBR Hole is a weekly book meme created by the wonderful Lia @ Lost in a Story that attempts to organize our ridiculously long Goodreads TBR list by choosing either to keep or eliminate the books we’ve saved on there. Here’s how it works:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go
Verdict: Keep
The Wind Singer: This sounds like it’d be a really good fantasy!
Seraphina: Medieval mathematical dragons, you say?! 😯
The Year of the Runaways: Synopsis has piqued my interest enough to stay!
Eligible: Ermagerd, Pride and Prejudice retelling! 😍 And it’s part of a series?!
Here I Am: Almost kicked this off my actual TBR today but decided to keep it after reading a bit of it!
The Mothers: Read a great review for this a few weeks back and decided to give it a go!
The Nix: Feel like this might go over my head but also very curious to try it!
Age of Myth: Loved what I’ve read of Sullivan before so curious to read his other books!
The Underground Railroad: Read Whitehead for the first time in January and loved his writing–want more!
Homegoing: I’ve heard so so so many positive things about this book. Really want to read it!

Verdict: BYE-BYE-BYE!
Tropic of Cancer: It might be a classic but it just really doesn’t appeal to me anymore (at all)?
History of Wolves: Sounds really interesting but also like it’d be quite slow and melancholy… Not my mood?
The Smoke Scented Girl: It does sound interesting but not enough to keep on my TBR!
The Impostor Queen: It’s just not calling out to me like it did before…
The Association of Small Bombs: Doesn’t sound like it’s for me anymore.

This week I managed to wave off 5/15 books… Okay, so I didn’t too well this week but the books I kept I really do want to read (and hopefully for some of them soon)! This brings my Goodreads TBR down to: 1,067 books! 😅

I still need to cross Homegoing off my TBR, too! I hope we both enjoy it. 😁 I read Seraphina last year and really enjoyed it, it’s definitely one I’d recommend.

Ooh yay! Glad to hear you enjoyed Seraphina! It sounds so interesting 😀 And yes, I’ve heard so many amazing things about Homegoing. I definitely want to tick it off the list soon! Fingers crossed we both enjoy it 🤞🏽

Wow – I just added a bunch of books to my own TBR from this list. I’m so glad to see that you kept Homegoing – it’s such an amazing book!

I don’t think I’ve read any of these, but some are on my TBR, too.

It felt good to get rid of some of these! Some just really don’t interest me anymore lol I guess reading tastes really do change over the years 😂

OOOH I really liked The Nix. Wasn’t there supposed to be a film adaptation of it in the works?

I have no idea actually! I don’t see the book talked about that much on here (or on bookstagram etc.) but I’m very curious about it 🙂

You popped the image for Smoke Scented Girl on keep and delete 🙈 mistake or just a really hard choice?
Suddenly don’t feel bad about my tbr. It’s about 100

OOPS. Haha I didn’t even notice that 🤣🙈 It didn’t end up being that hard of a choice — it’s going bye bye. But clearly I need to double check my posts before posting! Haha
And it’d be a dream to get my TBR to 100! Haha there are just too many books!? I really like the “want-to-read” button 😜

The Imposter Queen was a book I was SO interested in when it came out but I never ended up reading it either. My brother just read Seraphina and really enjoyed it!

I actually haven’t seen much mention about Seraphina but glad to know that he enjoyed it 😀 I’m looking forward to reading it. Sounds quite unique!

I 10000% agree — anything with “Medieval mathematical dragons ” in it deserves to be kept for that alone.

Haha I don’t do too good a job at that this week but I actually DID get rid of a lot of books on my physical shelves 😛
